There are many seasons on earth like summer, winter and rainy season or monsoon. But monsoon is favorite season of most of us. Monsoon is very important for farmers. Farmers in India worship god Indra for rain. The crops of this season depend on rain water. We also get drinking water from rain, apart from us animals and plants also depend on rain. Monsoon season starts in the first week of June suddenly the climate becomes very cool and attractive. Trees become greener during the season and the whole land becomes green and beautiful. Small children play a lot in the rain water they drop paper boats in the rain water and enjoy the rain. We get to see the colorful rainbow during rainy season. The whole environment becomes cool and beautiful.

Who Discovered Monsoon?

A Greek navigator named Hippalus is known to be discovered the monsoon winds blown across through the Arabian sea to India in AD 45-47.It is known to be the world's largest weather system. What makes the Asian Monsoon stand out things - the great intensity of the wet season in the Indian Subcontinent.

Why Monsoon is Important in India?

This weather system and its causes are complex and even to this day are not fully understood .However it is generally accepted that the two strongest influences are the seasonal march of the doldrums above and below the equator that affects all tropical wet and dry climates, magnified by the seasonal heating and cooling of the giant Asian landmass. The doldrums, also called the Intertropical Convergence Zone, or ITCZ. Monsoon is important in India as most of the income opportunities or we can say that near about 70 per cent of GDP of India depends on agriculture. So monsoon plays a very important role in India for better irrigation. Most of the farmers in India depends on monsoon for their livelihood and earnings.

As the monsoons are the main source of rainfall in South India. So, it is also known as 'Barsati Pavan' in Hindi. So the monsoon meaning in Hindi is "Barsati Pavan".

Monsoon Arrives in India Approximately in

Monsoon arrives in India approximately around June1 of every year. It generally arrives in Mumbai approximately 10 days later. Monsoon arrives in Delhi by the end of June and covers the rest of the country by mid July.
