Lord Ganesh is considered to be the god of wisdom, happiness and good luck. This festival is also known as "Vinayaka Chavithi", "Vinayaka Chaturthi" and "Ganesh Chaturthi".

Ganesh Chaturthi is a famous Hindu festival. This festival is celebrated in the month of Bhadrapada according to Hindu calendar. It is believed that lord Ganesha was  born on this day. Lord Ganesh is the son of lord Shiva and goddess Parvati. Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrates as the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. Ganesh Chaturthi is revived by freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak in the year 1893.Lord Ganesh is also known as "Vighnaharta", who destroys all the evils and troubles from his devotees' life. During this festival people bring Ganpati idol in their homes and worship with full devotion. Various trusts and societies also set up pandals for worshipping lord Ganesha. Devotees offer durva grass, Modak (Laddu),red flowers and Puran Poli to lord Ganesh.

Children are very much loved by Lord Ganesh and they are called him friend Ganesha. After the end of festival, people immerse the idol in ponds, rivers, sea or other water bodies. People chanted the slogans of "Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangal Murti Morya". These 11 days of Ganesh Chaturthi Festival brings happiness for everyone. People especially in the state of Maharashtra celebrates this cheerful, auspicious and significant festival with great enthusiasm. It is believed that prayers made during Ganesh Chaturthi always answered.

People of India wait the entire year for this festival eagerly. Lord Ganesha comes every year with prosperity and success. People clean their homes and decorate the place for  Ganesha Statue. The lord is worshipped for 10days during the festival. Everyday people do aarti and sing devotional songs. People enjoy a lot during this festival. People arrange singing, dancing and many cultural programs during these days.

11th day is celebrated as Anant Chaturdashi. On this day people do Ganesh Visarjan. The statue of lord Ganesha is being immersed in sea, river or lake. People celebrate on this day by singing and dancing. During these 11 days families unite, eat delicious foods and Modak. This is one of the most happiest festival.
