Story of Krishan Janmashtami.

Krishna Janmashtami

Long time ago in Mathura, a city in Uttar Pradesh, there was a king named 'Kansa'. He was very cruel and famous for his cruel deeds. He had a sister named Devki. She got married with Vasudev. After the marriage a prophetic voice heard from the cloud that Devki's 8th son will kill Kans. This enraged Kans and he imprisoned the newlyweds. Kans kept on killing Devki's all child until 7th were born. When she gave birth to her 8th child, the prophetic voice returned, and said, “Take the child across the river Yamuna to Gokul and exchange him with your friends Nand’s and Yashoda’s newly born daughter. ”Vasudev looked at himself, he saw he got unchained and picked up his child, put him in a basket and  find the guards were asleep, gates were opened with their own. He got outside the jail crossed the river putting the basket on his head. A snake appeared to protect the child from stormy river and rain. By seeing these miracles Vasudev had realized that his child was not a normal being. At Nand’s house, Vasudev switched the children and came back. When Kans came to prison and tried to kill the child he took the form of goddess Durga and said the 8th child has been born. The Child Krishna was brought by Yashoda. So every year we celebrate birth of Krishna as Krishna Janmashtami.
