What is Nepotism?

Nepotism is giving relatives special treatment especially within the workplace or by giving them jobs. In India mostly people prefer their friends, relatives and dear ones for a selected job. If they get a job they treat them in other way, they try to make their work easy by performing their tasks through others, by asking their boss for better appraisals and many more.
It is not only in India but everywhere the planet. Everybody wants their friends or relatives get comfort zone comparatively others. It is obvious, which may be a attribute or behavior. But sometimes it becomes over and deserving people can not get what they actual deserves. That results in their mental disturbance and affects on their health.

Corruption goes hand in hand with nepotism in India. It goes on in both private as well as in government jobs. Nepotism in Indian politics, nepotism in Indian judiciary and nepotism in bollywood is common. Nepotism in Indian politics is a family business. If a father is in politics then his son or daughter will also go for the same. At the time of elections mostly tickets are distribute to the relatives of MPs. India has seen the most nepotism in the Indian politics from the very beginning from Motilal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi. Congress Party is one among the instance of nepotism in Indian politics. Besides from this party there are many other parties too which have been working on the principle of nepotism.

As reported by The Days Of India it's come to light that the middle has acknowledged that at least 11 of 33 names has been recommended for elevation by the Allahabad High Court Collegium in February 2016 were advocates with links to sitting and retired judges. So we can say nepotism is spread all over the India from private sector to government sector.

Nepotism is also there in business too. Nepotism in Indian bollywood is one among its example. For over the years bollywood is dominated by star kids. Out comers hardly get a fair chance as compared to new comers star kids. Because they do not have a tag of any celebrity's relative or child.
But how can we raise our voices against this culture when our political parties are also integral participants to the present toxic culture. Few days back a well known actor commits suicide because of nepotism. He was said to be in depression for the last 6 months. Reason behind his depression is nepotism.
Last year it had been reported that top 20 business groups in India are family-owned. They collectively manage crores of assets. We can see the nepotism in Indian cinema that out of three Khan stars two are the godfather of the industry.

What are the causes of Nepotism?

The most simple explanation for nepotism is rooted in attribute. Most people tend to stick with the people they know as they get a feeling of protection and kindness from them in their workplace. Another factor is commitment.

On the whole is Nepotism a bad thing?

You can not say nepotism is a bad thing up to a some extent when you are promoted a good talent in certain field. But it is a bad practice when you give a chance to a person in place of deserving candidate just because he is your relative, your child or known one.
Nepotism cripples all folks in every profession and no-one can refuse it.
