Id-ul-Zuha
Eid-ul-Zuha is a famous festival of Muslims. It is also known as 'Eid-ul-Adah' in Arabic. It is also known as 'Bakra-Eid' or 'Bakrid' in the Indian sub continent. Many Muslims in India celebrate this festival. This festival is celebrated on 10th to 13th days of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijja. The word Eid is derived from the Arabic 'iwd' which means festival and the Zuha comes from 'Uzhaiyya' which means sacrifice.
Eid-Ul-Zulha is a festival of sacrifice. On this day Muslims sacrifice a goat or a bakra to commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm among Muslims all over the world. This festival coincides with Haj pilgrimage in Mecca. Prayers are offered in the mosques and the sacrificial meat is distributed after the Eid prayers. Special delicacies are prepared and served among family and friends on the occasion. Gifts are also exchanged on this auspicious day.

Eid-ul-Zuha and the Story of Prophet Ibrahim.

Eid-ul-Zuha is a celebration which takes place on the 10th to 13th of dhul Hijjah. It marks the end of the hajj pilgrimage and the beginning of the ritual of kurbani. This Eid is all about remembering the story of the Prophet Ibrahim. Prophet Ibrahim had a beloved son called Ismail. One night Ibrahim dreamt that Allah told him to sacrifice his son Ismail. Then the following night he had the same dream again commanding him to make the sacrifice. Ibrahim realized that it was a message from Allah. He loved his dear son but was prepared to follow a last command. He told him about the last command in his dream. Ismail was such an obedient child that he was prepared to be the sacrifice. Then elastin tan and brown replacing Ismail who remained unharmed. Ibrahim was shocked when he heard a voice which told him that Allah looks after his faithful follower and as faithful followers of Allah's command Ishmail's life had been spared. Ibrahim and his son had passed a challenging test from Allah and so to commemorate the obedience of Ibrahim, Muslims performed 'Kurbani' the sacrifice of an animal during the last Islamic month of dhul Hijjah and remember the greatest sacrifice in history during the celebration of Eid-ul-Zuha.
