Solar Energy

Solar Energy

As we know the term Solar is related to Sun, so here Solar Energy refers to capturing the radiant energy emitted by the sun and converted into electricity.
It is a renewable source of energy i.e the energy sources which are always being replenished. Nowadays it is widely used in villages, cities and towns as we have a limited source of  current fossil fuels like Coal and Gas. Solar Energy is a safe alternative to replace current fossil fuels for generating electricity. It is considered as safe alternative because it will eliminate the unsafe and unclean consequences from using conventional fossil fuels that produce air, water and land pollution.

Uses of Solar Energy:

Solar Energy is used in number of ways such as for making hot water, cooking and also in heat engines. All this happens with the help of Solar Panels which receive the sun radiations and convert them into heat or electric energy.
Benefits:
  • As we already discussed that it is a renewable source of energy.
  • Low power consumptions which results in low electricity bills.
  • Low maintenance Cost.
  • You can get Tax benefits.
  • Eco-Friendly.

Electricity Generation:

Now the thing is how electricity is generated with solar energy ?

The Sun emits enough power on earth to fulfill the entire human energy demand. The solar radiations emitted by sun are converted into electricity by solar cells also called photovoltaic cells. when light strikes between two different semiconductors a small amount of electric voltage is generated. A single photovoltaic cell generates a power of about two watts. So by connecting a large number of cell thousands of kilowatts of electric power can be generated in a solar electric plant. In this process Solar Panel Arrays are used.

Disadvantages of  Solar Energy:
  • Initial cost of setting Solar Panels is very high.
  • It requires a lot of space.
  • Weather dependent.
  • Storage is expensive.
Thanks, Have a Great and Wonderful Day..... God Bless !!!
